Matrix Reloaded Review.

Was it just me or did I spend 2 hours at the theatre to learn that Smith (the late agent) could leave the matrix and that the machines were coming "to kick some zion ass"...the movie just seemed to lack other plot developing points. The machines seemed pitted against each other in some bizarre battle to keep humanity alive? Or are they? wait! they are?!? Who knows? where did that go? nowhere but to sell another movie ticket next november. oooooo the machines have allegedly destroyed and rebuilt the last human city six times over. Uh huh...whatever...

Find yourself wondering why they keep the humans around for a wipping boy? Your not gonna find out in this movie. Who are all the renegade programs and what are they up to(I am the gatekeeper,you are the keymaster? was that some kinda homage to ghostbusters?)beats me. What is the "system" up to? once again no answer.

And whats with all the huggy poo-kissy face? Correct me if Im wrong but isn't this the sequel to the movie in which you never even learn most of the characters "real" names? (excepting of course mr. thomas anderson). But for some reason Im subjected to seeing a bunch of half naked unwasheshed "Zionians" with jolly pirate nick names rub up against each other for at least 45 minutes of this waste of 7 dollars. Seriously I care about ex cast's lawsuits more than I do about how that tin can they use to jack into the matrix needs an operator. Or about trust issues between whats his face and morpheus? In the middle of the big trinity/neo love scene my friend leaned over and said, "I didn't think it would be this slow". My reply, "more like slow-mo." and that summed up the entire movie.

Just like I dont want to see the same stop action video effect ive seen mimmicked in a thousand movies since the original matirix another 100,000 times...It gets old. It was old 6 months after the original. It was even older when I saw it in a soda commercial. It was turning to dust when I bought my movie ticket this evening.

Life still sucks at work. I had to call the network analysts again. This time because I got a half dozen people not mapping drives from their login script. The NA I called is a nice competent grl with a strong work ethic. I feel I poorly characterize the NA's with my bitching but this chick is smart and she knows her crap. Im sure she will resolve the issue with the scripts...

Some other Calls I got open are:

an ASC font display problem. (this looks easy but I went so far as to blow away her partition and apply one from a working machine and it didn't fix it. and before you say, "Update the video drivers!", I did that too...Nothing)

Delete some excell worksheets for some people who dont have rights to delete their own documents (efficient!)

some chick whos getting a problem on one of the internal website "#session.planID, 0 error near line 8 column 23" (I thought I was being paid to be a workstation tech, not a web devver. I'll prolly just esculate that one)

Some other chick cant forward emails. (damn lotus migration fallout)

this other girl is trying to ftp something to another one of our plants and is appearently logging into the wrong server.

Sorry Ive been away. This week has been hellishly busy but I DO have next monday off. Today Im doing moves and the paperwork is all messed up. Dave Schultz is helping me and we decided to swap last names. So now Im Robert Schultz and He is Dave Schultz. Its causing alot of confusion around the office. Ha ha ha. Also I have this song by the left/rights stuck in my head. Called Darth Vador. Part of the song is about darth looking like a giant black penis. Id hafta agree he does kinda look like a giant black penis. Welp...gotta go!

I have the day off! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I gotta build a computer for Jonathan. Get ready to goto new ulm and then go there...also Ill be there for the entire weekend. So no more updates till monday.

I am so sick of hearing about SARS. Its being prompted in the media as some killer plaugue or something. I think more people die a day in car accidents than have died from SARS in the past 2 months...But I guess the public are hungry-er to hear about killer plagues than about how dangerous it is to drive or ride in an automobile.

The worldwide death toll reached at least 580, with more than 7,400 cases reported.

Lets do some mathy math shall we?

lets see 6 billion people divided by 580....that makes any individual in the world's chances of dying from the dreaded disease: 1 in 10344828 (roughly). I think more likely to win the powerball.

Well Im so mad im not even going to say anything.

Today started out out as a regular day...I got up, took a shower and fought the road construction on the way to work.

Then I got here.

Dan Moore(systems engineer) is at my desk. Talking about some project thats not done yet. He then shanghai's me and takes me to help him set up these PCs,get login stuff figured out and its all in the building accross town(mind you Im not scheduled to be working in that building today). Well the guy who is scheduled there decides that he will go there after we get back (appearently both he and dan had the same idea:I dont wanna drive my own car through the road construction!) So OK I go do that and a few calls in that building and return. Big pain but its over now, whew.

Then the NA manager is talking to my manager and they yell for me to come over. I go over and see what they want.

Them: "know anything about placeware?"
Me: "no"
Them: "well you can handle it. Go see user x, shes having problems uploading a power point presentation to the placeware demonstration"
Me: "ok"

so I get there. User X says she hasta go to another meeting but that she can leave herself logged in and I can "mess with" the upload. I say ok and she bolts out the door.

I figure out the placeware software and am ready to upload. Except there's one problem: I dont know what Im supposed to upload. So I search user X's drive mapping and find the stuff for the telefone seminars. Theres 50 of them. UGH! I didn't know what they wanted so I just picked one that had a similar name to the meeting and left. I hope that cause any problems.

Anyway, right now Im taking fones for Jason.

Well Kinda a slow afternoon. I talked to some NA guy out of Columbus, OH. The email servers were letting that fizzle worm slip through so I was letting people know that the virus updates weren't happening as they are supposed to. He was complaining that DNS was messed up on the servers...I pointed him at the network analysts and pointed out that I was just the workstation technician.

I lost 3 out of 3 hands of brainerd hold'em to the old PCO staff. Those guys are sharks dont ever play with them ;^) Just kidding they are nice guys I just dont know shit about poker.

I guess we wont get to see Asa again as he ships out 2morrow. He was supposed to come to my house on friday and never showed up.

I just noticed I lost some rights on the network...gotta go complain that if thats not fixed it will severly impair my ability to fix things...

Those Chicken Mcnuggets were nasty. The machine that strips the carteledge from the meat must be broken in the great Mcdonald's factory in the sky because I kepts finding "chewy things" in my nuggets. :^P blech,nasty.

Im taking fones for Wanda (another helpdesk person) while she goes to lunch so this should be a pretty quiet hour...Altho Im sure that when Dave(another helpdesk person) gets back he will finnish out the fone session and Ill be back to 2nd line (fixing things) and there is no shortage of things to fix.

I had my best ever nethack game this weekend while on the road. I was playing a monk (I dont know how many of you ever play nethack, but its a fun game to play on low end systems. Its all sprites.), and I kept getting to ghost levels(a ghost level is a level a previous nethack player, in these cases it was me, died on.)So I started hauling all my old dead guys possessions back up to higher levels and selling them to the shop keepers there...I prolly pulled down 5k in gold like that and I kept the things that my monk could use. I ended up getting killed by a giant back because I was digging with a pick ax and forgot to un-weild it(monks fight with their bare hands). Appearently a pick ax is not a good weapon to use when fighting bats of any kind. Oh well, good thing I backed up my save so I can still restore it later. Hee hee. Yeah I was on some mission that actually had a name "Charums Boat" or something like that.Usually when I die on nethack all I get is "character name X died on level Y". But this time it was talking about some dudes boat...

Man Im a nerd.

In other news the Hardware user that I use sometimes was messed up again, someone had removed it from the PC support group. That's added back now and I need to test

I told my GF about it this morning and she hit the roof...I couldn't really argue with her about the values that must teach the child...I was just complaining about having my face stomped.

Jenifer's granparents were still alive when we were there.We took a bunch of pictures.Generally speaking I was uncomfortable and fussed over the children most of the time.
They served up some mean old time style food. (They are 82 Jen's gramma and 84 Jen's Grampa)
I got their recipe for german potato salad but we also had some weird cornbread+corn suffle' thing, home canned pickles (weird....big as cucumbers)and something called chiken soup hotdish. They seemed well except for being extremely old.I got a bunch of pictures that Im sure Ill put up somewhere, just not tonight.

I feel bad cause I never see my grandparents...seeing Jen's was just the same as seeing mine but worse...I have nothing to say to someone 50 years older than me without wither sounding A.) dumb or B.) confusing the old person. In my own these things usually start my grandparents lecturing me abotu going to confession(hey Im not catholic anymore!) or back to college (wait...i think I make enough money,mostly).

But yeah I feel bad for not calling them. Maybe I will 2morrow if I dont get too busy at work...

I was so sick last night. I dont know what exactly was wrong with me but I woke up in the middle of the night soaked with sweat. Jenifer was up too and talking to me about something...I dont know what. I think I was fevered...I dont know...

At any rate the Lord preserved me.

I hafta goto Jen's Sister's Kid's Birthday party today(his name is Jared, he is a cutey). Thats not the worst of it tho. Im spending the night there and then going to Park Rapids to see her grandparents (on her late fathers side). Jen wants a picture of us and them and the kids. Bleh its gonna be 36 hours of no fun for me.

The last time I was at their house they kept talking about a "bug or a bird" in their laundry room. According to them it was chirping about every 15 minutes for the last month. Seeing as that made absolutely no sense I decided I would investigate. What I found was pretty scarey.

Their Smoke Detector battery had gone dead.

Im also going shopping first so at least i wont leave until 1 or so...I dunno.

So unfortunately no more updates until 2morrow night.

I am planning on buying a nightscope 2morrow. That somewhat cheers me up and all my problems with my checking account appear to be over, which is another good thing. My GF is being super duper nice to me(prolly because of that whole fiasco with her mother)

This normally wouldn't be a problem. But my one friend Asa is going to japan in the navy for a couple years and we had planned to have a nice sit down dinner tonight with him. Well when MOM heard that she made a wry face and acted like we should pull our plans we made a week ago because her and her husband were spending the night. SCREW that.

At least it makes my problems with the NA's and the server migration seem smaller. The downside is I get to spend all night with my mother in law (ok im not married but still), and she doesn't exactly have what I would call a pleasant disposition.

but then after like 14 million tries whoever was making the changing to the servers must of used both hands to find there head in their ass and wolla its working again.

Man, I stayed up too late watching "The Life of Mammals" on Discovery...I prolly took in 6 hours of the stuff...By my closest calculations I went to bed at 1 or 2. Im not real sure because I couldn't see the clock and the credits ran and I was out, without even turning off the TV (I did that at 6 AM when I woke back up.).

Ugh I gotta start managing my sleep better...

Well anyway I gotta go set up some software on someone's computer...Guess I better figure out where the instal is :^(

The Kids had a program tonight. I thought they all did really well (except I could barely see Melissa.) Melissa was an army ant, Johnny was a green beatle of some sort and Stephen was a bee. I (like a fool) shut the flash off on my camera...Consequently I couldn't take a clear picture to save my life...

I did get a good picture of the back of some dudes head...

I actually got recognised for doing a good job today at work.

it was a beautiful day today. Warm and sunny. I cant smell the spring air tho cause my nose is all stuffy.

Anyway Im gonna publish this crap to blog (o fun!) and go watch TV with my GF (she seems to enjoy it). She is currently watching some show about a lake gone poisonous...SOUNDS COOL!
